Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all. Here's a picture of my good old horse Fox last spring when I first got him. He'll be 14 in 2011. He's 13 right now. The biggest thing for me in 2010 was the purchase of Fox. I posted this picture on one of my older blogs awhile back.
Have a great new year.

Winter Wonderland

Well I hope you all had a good Christmas and have a happy New Year. We moved Hala, our Icelandic filly that we adopted just recently out to the roundpen. The horses were going nuts.

My doofus goofus has the hots for Hala

The herd from left to right: Indy, Fox, Danny and Mythical. Butters, our little Shetland/Welsh pony filly is right behind them.

Last but not least, here's me ground driving Fox in the snow today.

I hope you enjoy the snowy weather. Blessings.

A look back at 2010

Well here's a look back at 2010. We had a bitter sweet year. January 2010 I purchased my Golden Retriever, Savannah. February, I tried out for cheerleading and made the team. I had bad pneumonia and had to go to the hospital. In March, I had my birthday and turned 17. I also had prom the same weekend as well. April 2010, I purchase an AQHA appendix quarter horse gelding. His name was Ima Hotroddin Fox. It was a great blessing for me as I sold Gulliver last December. In May, I had Spokane Junior Livestock Show for Reardan FFA. I showed and sold my pig there. I made some money from it. In June 2010, we took our horses to a free clinic put on by this trainer named Kyya Grant down in Othello, WA. That same month my dad was in an accident and had nerve damage to his arm. July 2010, my sister,Niki and family came up from Portland and did a dog show. In August, my mom had foot reconstruction surgery and had to be in a cast for six weeks. I also had my senior pictures done and they came out great. I got my driver's license also. In September, I started my senior year in high school. The season began for football and I started cheering for games. This October, I continued cheering at more football games. I also joined Reardan's Equestrian Team. Mom had her cast taken off and started walking again. This November, basketball season started and I started preparing for cheering at basketball games. We did our final trail ride of the season on our horses as well and it was my mom's first trail ride since her surgery. With December now in store, we are now preparing for Christmas. My mom got an Icelandic horse and I would like to congratulate her for it. I started cheering at basketball games as well and that's coming along great too. Now my mom is getting strength in her foot and my dad's arm is doing a little better since the accident. I've had Fox for almost a year and he's just a great horse.
Now for 2011, it will be different, because we will be riding a lot more than we did in 2010. We will be getting a coggins for our horses this spring so we can do some rides in Idaho. I will be going to meets for the Equestrian team this spring too.

Snow Snow Snow!!

Here's some pictures of the horses in the snow. It was hilarious today. I got Fox out to play with in the snow and he dug a big giant hole in the snow. He just dug dud dug and finally got to a little patch of grass way down to the bottom. He started nibbling on it. It was hilarious. It's like he knew that the grass was buried under the snow. The last to pictures are him and his little girlfriend, Lily.

Freezing Outside

Well, it's just freezing out right now. It's suppose to get to be 5 degrees over night so I found the horse blanket that belonged my first horse. I'm going to see if it fits Fox. If it does I want to put it on him because I want him to have a blanket on that the nights will be cold on. I haven't ridden in a week. First off I've been busy. Second off it's just freezing like arctic right now. So he's just been sitting around muddy. It's that time of year again. If doesn't snow in the winter the horses are usually muddy with their fuzzy winter coats. Last Sunday we went on a trail ride with our friends. It was my mom's first trail ride since her surgery. We had fun. I'm glad we got one more trail ride out of the way before winter hit. I have no new pictures to post but this was taken this summer right after Fox's bath. That was his short summer coat. This is my first winter with him. Well when I got him last year, it was early spring and he hadn't quite shed out his winter coat so I always knew what his coat looks like in the winter. Have a good weekend.
Happy Trails

How it all began

This is a story of how I got Fox. It all started September 2009. I had Gulliver back then. I purchased him the year before that. I wasn't making any plans to sell him at first. I knew this to begin with that he was locked up in his pelvis from being an ex-roping horse. In September 2009 I showed him at the Spokane Interstate Fair. I did gaming on Gulliver and he was just sore to the bone. I felt bad for him. It was before I had counseling and it was really stressful. We had just gotten back from our trip to Ocean Shores and I think Gulliver was too upset about having to be away from home again. Not only was he sore but he was ancy and upset. I don't blame him after having a long trip at the beach. So after the fair I was starting to grow apart from him. I kept him for another couple of months. The last couple of months I had him I lost interest in him. So I sold him right after Thanksgiving last year. Gulliver went to a home where he'd have a lighter duty job. I decided that I would take our 5-year-old QH gelding, Danny, and get myself a dog. After selling Gulliver, I got a Golden Retriever puppy and named it Savannah. I went for just a few months without a horse. Then I decided that I didn't feel like Danny was mine and that he's my mom's horse. So in Spring 2010 right after winter was over, we found a home for Indy and I started shopping for a horse. I looked at some horses and some were either projects or not properly trained. I started thinking that it's hopeless and that I would never find a good horse. I began to regret selling Gulliver. Then this ad on Craigslist came up just saying AQHA gelding for sale. It said very little. I just thought I'd call on it just to see what the horse was. I talked to the lady and she said that he was owned by her 12-year-old daughter. They paid $3,000 for him in 2008. They bought him from a cowboy down in Valleyford saying that he hadn't been ridden in 5 years. They sent him to the trainer for 30 days for a tune up. Her daughter was more into ice hockey. The mom told her that both sports were time consuming and expensive that she needed to pick one or the other. So the hockey was winning over and they put Fox up for sale. I tried him out and I liked him. So I brought him home and now he's mine. I've had him for almost a year now. Next year I will be doing gaming on Fox.

What a day yesterday

These pics are new. They were taken yesterday. They're not old ones like the other ones. I took Fox for a little ride yesterday. My mom played with her horse, Indy. I was practicing the barrel pattern and my mom asked if I wanted to pony Indy. So I said sure and I ponied him around the property. I just love his face in some of the pics. It helps Fox be more forward since he's herd bound. Here are some pics to enjoy.

A couple more pics to look back on

Here's some pics of our mustang, Annie, that were taken a couple of years ago at the first Mustang Days. I will never forget that day when it was pooring down rain and we where drenched. We sold Annie at the end of the summer that year and we decided to stick to broke horses. I hope she's doing well. We all miss her. Sometimes we talk about adopting another mustang but as of right now we have too many horses. Maybe someday we will huh?

Looking back

Here's some pictures to look back on. The first one is me on Gulliver last fall. I sold him right after that pic was taken. I miss him but he's in a better place. The next one is me on Fox. It was taken earlier this spring, which is when I got him. Now a days I have Fox and Gulliver is in a happier place where he'll have a lighter duty job. When I was shopping for a horse, I began to regret selling him because I was having trouble finding a good horse. Some of them that I looked at where projects or didn't have proper training. Then Fox came along. It eased my guilt. I still have him and he's just been the best horse ever. I've never had an ounce of trouble with him. He's of course not going anywhere. I can't wait to get into gaming with him next spring. It will be fun.

Updates on Things Going On

Well it's been a long time since I posted here. I was on a little hiatus. Now I'm back. I've had Fox for half a year now. I just love him to death. Next spring will be a year since I got him. I just did my final trail ride of the season. Fox is a great trail horse. I've been busy with cheerleading. Football season is about over and we've got Basketball season coming up. I just joined my high school's Equestrian Team. Next year I'm going to be gaming on Fox. He's just a great horse. I can't believe I've had him for so long. My mom had foot surgery back in August. She got her cast off a couple of weeks ago. She's now walking okay. My Golden Retriever, Savannah, just turned a year old on October 17. She was just a littel fuzz ball when I got her, which was back in January. Halloween was just completed. We've got Thanksgiving coming up and then Christmas. Man where did the year go? This coming January will be a year since I got Savannah and next spring will be a year since I had Fox. I've got some pictures to share. The first pic is my friend riding Fox. The next one is Danny and Fox summer 2010. The last one is him in his stall that was taken recently.

New post

Well, here's new post and what has been going on lately. I finally got a picture from the Kyya Grant clinic back in June. I've been riding Fox a lot lately. He's a real dependable horse. I've had him for about three months now. On the 30th, it will be three months since I've had Fox. I still don't know how I got him An unbelievable stroke of luck I guess. Well with the way the horse market is when I was shopping for a horse, before I found Fox, I knew that there are riding horses for cheap. I kept that faith. Some horse people are dishonest and lie about the horse. Sometimes they drug it to make it look like an awesome horse but by the time you get it home they turn out to be a nutcase. That's the part that always scares me when I go looking at horses. But Fox was nothing like that. He 's really safe and dependable. We love him. Here's a picture from the Kyya Grant clinic in June.

It's raining buckets right now.

It's raining and pouring out right now. I don't know if we're going to put the horses in the barn or not. I'll have to check with my mom. We attended a "free clinic" in Othello, WA with Kyya Grant. I was sorry I didn't have the camera with me. Otherwise we would have taken pics. If I had some pics from the clinic I would have posted them on here. Some friends of ours took pics of us so if I get them I'll post them on here. Danny and Fox were both so awesome at the clinic. I learned so many cool things with Fox. I learned how to turn him and that getting to drop his nose vertically thing. He's such an awesome horse. I'm so proud of myself for finding him. As for Danny, Kyya was impressed of the progress we put into him. For only being 5, he's wonderful. We're lucky to have two awesome horses. Have a wonderful rest of the day. If we get pics that our friends took of us at the clinic I will post them on here.

More progress with me and Fox

I took Fox for a little ride yesterday. I don't have any pics to post so I'm just going to tell all about it. I rode him in the roundpen working on walk-trot transitions. Fox just goes right into the gates. He's got such a smooth lope too. I was riding him while my mom was trimming our pony, Tonka's feet. Sorry I don't have any pics to post on here or else I would. I'm not going to show at the Interstate Fair this year like I did last year. For one thing I've done for two years in a row. I don't need to do it again. Another thing is it's just too long and stressful. There's plenty of horse activities I can do that don't involve the Fair. The first year I showed at the fair was with Danny. I showed him in halter and I got grand champion. The second year was with Gulliver. That year was for some reason a little more stressful than it was the year I showed Danny. If I were to do it this year it would be with Fox and it would be my third year to do it. But two years is good enough for me. I don't need to do it three years in a row. I gave myself two options. If I were to do it again I could enter less classes such as just doing a halter class and O-mok-see or not do the fair at all. I chose not to do the fair at all. I'm just giving out how this year is going to be a lot less stressful than it was last year. I'm just going to do what I like to do with my horse. Just go on trail rides and meet up with friends for play days every once in a while. I will possibly just enter a schooling show that's very low key. Just like a fun show not a big professional show. I'm just not into that kind of thing. Showing is very stressful because you have to practice a lot and getting them prepared is stressful also. This summer is going to be better than last summer. I can't wait.

My first trail ride with Fox

Well this last weekend, I had my first trail ride on Fox. He was so awesome. We love Fox. I've had him for about a month now. We're getting to know better each time we work with him. Our Arab gelding that we gave away couple of months ago is home now. He wasn't working out for the people so now he's back. I know he knows Danny and Myth but this was his first time meeting Fox. He was still with them when we brought Fox home. Well here's pic from last weekend on our trail ride.

Fox is such a good horse. We all love him. I hope your weekend was great. We took Fox on a trail ride yesterday and he was awesome! We went riding with a couple of our horsey friends and it was just fun. It was my first trail ride on him and the first trail ride of the season. I can't believe my luck that I'm the one who found Fox. Well I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend.

First Post in forever

Well, it's been a really long time since I posted on the site. Right around the time I posted my last blog I sold Gulliver. Shortly after I sold Gulliver I got a wonderful Golden Retriever puppy named Savannah. Savannah is a wonderful dog. I just love her. Well as for horses, I was going to just take over our 5-year-old Quarter Horse gelding, Danny. After awhile I decided that I will never feel like Danny would be my horse since my mom raised him from a baby. I told her I just wanted my own horse. Right after we found a home for our Arab gelding, Indi, I bought this wonderful Appendix Quarter Horse gelding. Registered name Ima Hotrodin Fox. "Fox" is an amazing horse. He's a beautiful sorrel with a blaze and three white socks with a really good mind. I'm psyched that I got a good minded horse for very cheap and it doesn't have problems like Gulliver. Here's a pic of Fox and another one of Savannah.
